Custom Wedding Ceremony in Angus, ON
Your love story isn't cookie-cutter, so why should your ceremony be?
What Makes a Custom Ceremony Different
A custom ceremony is built around you. We start with a blank page. No scripts, no templates you didn't choose. You tell me what matters - the inside jokes, the moment you knew, the promises you actually want to make. I write a ceremony that sounds like it came from you, not a wedding handbook.
Maybe you want your dog as ring bearer. Maybe you're blending families and need a unity ritual that includes your kids. Maybe you hate public speaking and want the ceremony short, or you're storytellers who want fifteen minutes of narrative. It's your day. We make it fit.
This works great if you're having a Traditional Wedding Ceremony vibe but want personal touches, or if you're doing something totally off-script. I've done ceremonies in barns, backyards, and beaches across Angus and Barrie. The location changes. The approach doesn't.
How We Build Your Ceremony Together
We meet (or video chat) and I ask questions. How'd you meet? What do you love about each other? What do you want guests to feel? Do you have cultural traditions or family rituals you want woven in? I take notes. Lots of notes.
Then I draft your ceremony. You review it, mark it up, tell me what to change. We go back and forth until it's right. Most couples do two or three rounds of edits. Some nail it on the first pass. There's no rush.
On the day, I show up early, handle the legal paperwork, and perform the ceremony we built. If you're also doing a Vow Renewal Ceremony down the road or know someone planning a Civil Wedding Ceremony, the process is similar - just tailored to what that moment needs.
Custom Vows and Personal Touches
You can write your own vows or use traditional ones. You can do a mix - I'll write the framework, you add personal promises. I've seen couples exchange letters, plant trees, pour sand, light candles, tie knots, break glass. If it means something to you, we'll make it work.
I've worked with couples in Collingwood who wanted a canoe blessing, and others in Angus who included their grandparents' wedding readings. One couple rewrote their vows in the parking lot ten minutes before the ceremony. (We made it work.) The point is flexibility.
If you're not sure what you want yet, that's fine. A lot of couples start with 'we just want it to feel like us' and we figure out the details together. That's the whole reason custom ceremonies exist.
Pricing and What's Included
A custom ceremony starts around $600. That covers our planning meetings, unlimited edits to the script, the ceremony itself, and filing your marriage license. Travel within Angus and nearby areas like Alliston is included. If you're getting married farther out, we'll talk about travel fees.
You're paying for the time it takes to write something original. A Elopement Ceremony is faster because it's just the two of you and maybe a witness. A custom ceremony for 150 guests with three readings and a unity ritual takes more prep. The price reflects that.
I don't upsell you on add-ons you don't need. You get a ceremony that works, a signed license, and someone who shows up on time. If you want a rehearsal, we can do that. If you don't, we skip it. Simple.
Serving Angus and Surrounding Areas
I'm based in Angus and work all over Simcoe County. That means Orillia, Wasaga Beach, and everywhere in between. I've done ceremonies in golf clubs, conservation areas, family farms, and living rooms. The venue doesn't matter as much as the people.
If you're planning a wedding in Angus, you already know it's quieter than the city but close enough to everything. Your guests can get here easy. You can have the ceremony you want without the venue telling you what time you have to wrap up.
Let's build something that's yours. Reach out and we'll start talking through what your ceremony could look like.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a custom wedding ceremony take?
Most custom ceremonies run 15-25 minutes. If you want it shorter, we can do 10. If you want more readings or rituals, we can stretch to 30. You tell me the target and I'll write to fit that window.
Can we include religious elements in a custom ceremony?
Yes. I'm not clergy, but if you want a prayer, a scripture reading, or a blessing, we can include it. I've worked with couples who blended Christian, Jewish, and secular elements into one ceremony. As long as it's meaningful to you, we'll make it work.
What if we don't know what we want in our ceremony?
That's normal. We start with a conversation about your relationship and what feels important. I'll suggest ideas based on what you tell me. You're not expected to show up with a script - that's my job. You just need to show up with opinions about what sounds like you and what doesn't.
