Elopement Ceremonies in Angus, ON
You're skipping the big production and we're here for it - just the two of you, your vows, and done.
Why couples choose us for elopements
You don't want a crowd. You don't need a reception hall. You just want to be married. We get it. We've officiated elopements in backyards, parks, living rooms, and even a Tim Hortons parking lot once (long story, great couple). If you can get there, we can marry you there.
We keep the ceremony short but real. No filler, no awkward silhouettes-holding-hands metaphors. You'll say your vows, we'll say the legal bits, you'll sign the paperwork, and you're married. The whole thing takes 10-15 minutes unless you want it longer. We work around your schedule, not the other way around.
Plenty of our Angus couples elope, then throw a party later. Some never tell anyone. Some bring their dog as a witness. We've seen it all and we're not here to judge - we're here to make it legal and make it yours. We also handle Non Religious Ceremonies if you want zero religious language, or Custom Ceremony Scripts if you've written something specific you want us to read.
What's included in an elopement ceremony
You get us, a legal marriage ceremony, and a signed marriage license. That's the core. We'll meet you at your chosen spot in Angus or nearby (we've done ceremonies in Borden and Cookstown plenty of times). If you don't have a location yet, we can suggest a few quiet spots that work well.
We bring a short ceremony script that hits all the legal requirements. You can tweak it, add personal vows, or keep it as-is. If you want something totally custom, that's a separate service (Custom Ceremony Scripts), but most elopement couples are fine with our standard short version. It's simple, it's sincere, and it gets the job done.
After the ceremony, we file your paperwork with the province. You'll get your official marriage certificate in the mail a few weeks later. If you need two witnesses and don't have any, we can usually arrange that - just ask when you book.
Where we'll meet you
We're based in Angus but we'll travel to wherever makes sense for you. Parks, beaches, your backyard, a family member's property, a favourite hiking spot - if it's within reasonable driving distance, we'll be there. We've done ceremonies at sunrise, at sunset, and at 2pm on a Tuesday because that's when you both had the afternoon off.
Some couples pick a meaningful location. Others just pick somewhere pretty. A few have chosen purely based on convenience (we married a couple in their apartment lobby once because it was snowing and they didn't want to go outside). All of it works. If you're looking at spots around Essa or other nearby areas, we know the region well and can help you figure out logistics.
How to book your elopement
Call or text us with your date, rough time, and location. We'll confirm we're available and lock it in. You'll need to apply for your marriage license ahead of time (that's a separate government thing, not us), and we'll walk you through what you need to do. It's not complicated, just a bit of paperwork.
We usually ask for at least a week's notice, but we've done same-week elopements when schedules align. If you're in a rush, just ask. Payment is due the day of the ceremony - cash, e-transfer, whatever works. If you later decide you want a bigger ceremony or a Vow Renewal Ceremonies with family, we do those too.
Frequently asked questions
How much does an elopement officiant cost in Angus?
Our elopement ceremonies start at $200 for a basic service. That includes us showing up, performing a short legal ceremony, and signing your marriage license. If you need us to travel further out or want a custom script, the price goes up a bit. We'll give you an exact quote when you tell us your date and location.
Do we need witnesses for an elopement in Ontario?
Yes, Ontario requires two witnesses over the age of 18 to sign your marriage license. You can bring your own (friends, family, even strangers you trust), or we can arrange witnesses for you if you don't have anyone. Just let us know when you book.
Can you do an elopement ceremony on short notice?
Usually, yeah. We've done elopements with less than a week's notice when our schedule allows. The bigger constraint is your marriage license - you need to apply for that at least 24 hours before the ceremony, and it's valid for 90 days. If you've already got the license and we're free, we can make it happen fast.
